80's Anyone????

I can't take anymore of the 80's!  I remember it all too well and I refuse to revisit! LOL
So these are going by lots now....I know, I know...I have no patience!

Most of these are all from size l4 to l8.

What will it be???

I love it when inspiration strikes!
I found this image on the Graphics Fairy's website (free) and it's been calling my name every since!
So...I printed it off onto muslin, found the perfect background fabric in the stash, backed it with a Moda Robyn Pandolf fabric and tacked it down!
So then it became this!  Probably a wall hanging, even though I had a pillow top in mind first....
So off I go to the couch to quilt it down....and of course, changed my mind and now it's something completely different again!
More pics soon to come!

The robe is leaving home!

The Moonlight and Romance robe is packed and ready to go to it's new owner in Canada.  I'm sure other creators can sympathize with me when I say I'm THRILLED and SAD to see it go, all at the same time!

I create because I love to make things!
I love to share what I've made and that means selling them.
Yes, the money is nice to have, more because it seems as though what we creating is being validated that it's worth something to others also.  Seems most designer's struggle between pricing what's it's worth and what it will actually sell for!  I can spend hours making roses and only using one out of the bunch, or totally changing my mind and doing something different!

One of the hardest lessons for me to learn and accept, is that not everyone can do what I do!  And certainly considering the fact that not everyone wants to!

So when someone buys one of my creations, it's such a rush to know they loved it as much as I did and I hope they have as much fun wearing it and I did making it!

Now....what to make NEXT??? :)

This innocent looking creature knocked over a glass of water into my keyboard!

So all day yesterday I was without a keyboard, I was typing on a virtual board where you have to click on the letters.  To say it was a tad frustrating is an understatement! LOL

However, today there's a new keyboard and the cat lives another day.

Everybody needs a little help now and then!

It's just sometimes surprising to see who's willing to jump into the mess.....

And how absolutely innocent they can look when caught!

Really??? I'm in the pattern business?

Ah, the anticipation on getting up at the crack of dawn to go to the estate sale in the next county....OK, the crack of dawn was 11:00, but hey I work second shift, so that was pretty good for me! After calling my buddy that lives close and having the "should I go, is it worth it?" conversation, I grabbed my coffee to go and went to explore the treasures that only live in houses of the south!  45 Min's later, there it is!

Oh no, lots of other people!  I've been scooped!  No surprise there, considering it's almost l:00 now!

I get to the garage and think "OMG it was a wasted trip" Nothing but ceramics and magazines.  The man sitting or should I say "reining" over the proceedings "laid back in his chair, said "Honey, you just go on inside. The back room is the craft room, Xmas decorations are in the other room and the living room has everything else and the back porch is the jewelry". Well. Needless to say I pushed the little woman aside with the small snippy dog (why do they ALWAYS have little dogs?) and made a beeline for the craft room!

I should have taken pictures, but there was too much to do!  Wall of fabrics, box of patterns, notions, shoes....this was my kind of sale!  It didn't take me long to realize that I was never going to get through all this in time to get back home and get to work on time, so after tracking down one of the ladies in charge (in her calico red checked dress and apron (awwwww....cute), telling her my predicament, I asked how much for all the patterns, never dreaming that it would be reasonable enough for me to get them all.

And lo and behold I am now the proud owner of 6 boxes of vintage patterns!

Some are the designer Vogue's, some from the 40's....

Some are from the l980's which will promptly go into the trash!  Some things really should NOT be made again! :)  Do you KNOW how long it's going to take me to go through all these???    So we can certainly expect to see some of these in my Ebay shop next week!  Most of them are size 12 and l4, wonder if I can lose 50 pounds and wear some of these by September for the "Self Stitched September" challenge?

I did score some of the cutest vintage purple shoes and lilac hat still in the hat box!  And they fit!

So overall, I'm going to say...it was worth getting up at the crack of dawn!

Hydrangea's and Roses....

My Hydrangea's and roses were so pretty this year!

They deserved their own shabby pink setting.

Zoe has started another challenge!

"Self Stitched September"

I, Brenda ,www.wiltedmagnolia.blogspot.com, sign up as a participant of Self-Stitched-September. I endeavor to wear one handmade and/or refashioned item of clothing, accessories or jewelery every day for the duration of September 2010'.

I couldn't do the May one, so we'll see if I can fit this one in! I work at home during the day (read that as comfy sweats/t shirt/pj's) and wear a uniform at work, so it will be a challenge to get me out of my "pj's at home" rut! And we're not talking about a glamorous life at home! There's dogs and cats and work outside, sewing for my shop, packing/shipping for Ebay, truffling around in flea markets for treasures....you get the picture!

Auction Night!

It's been a few years since I went to an auction, so Monday night I drove an hour to this one!

The only thing I bought was strawberry shortcake, but I met a new friend and had so much fun people watching.

The gentleman in the blue shirt went through every little thing in there!

I did bid on a pretty little needlepoint framed piece, but the nice little lady in the front row was a vicious bidder and had to have it! LOL Her husband and I did have an interesting conversation on Wagner Ware, so it wasn't a total loss!

The "girls" are home!

The Guinevere sisters are home from their photo shoot in Dallas!
They had a fabulous time and would have liked to stay longer, but they came home with some amazing photos!

They visited the famous "Dallas" TV show house!

They visited the parks.

And the skirts were having such a nice relaxing day, they refused to come home at all! Can't say that I blame them!
